Tooth Bonding

Cosmetic tooth bonding is a procedure in which damaged or slightly misshapen teeth can be rebuilt using a dental composite material that closely resembles natural tooth enamel. It's the same material modern dentists use for tooth-colored fillings.

Tooth bonding is a quick and effective cosmetic option that can repair:

  • small chips
  • gaps
  • crookedness

It will improve the appearance of your smile almost instantly.

It's accomplished in a single visit.

The first step is to prepare the tooth by cleaning it thoroughly, then roughening the surface slightly. This will enable the bonding material to adhere to your tooth permanently and strongly. The slight shaping will enhance the final bonded shape.

Then the putty-like bonding material, chosen to match your tooth's exact color, will be applied to the surface and molded into the proper shape.

A curing light will then be used to permanently harden the material and bond it to the roughened tooth surface.

If any adjustments need to be made to the shape and size, more layers of bonding are applied and cured, until enough bulk is established in the right places.

Any excess bonding will be trimmed and shaped, not only to look pleasing, but also to make the smoothest connections to neighboring teeth.

Finally, our newly reconstructed tooth will be buffed to a smooth, natural finish, using a series of successively finer polishing discs.
